From the desk of Lori Aufderhar, Summit’s Director of Operations/Retirement Coach:
Are you craving as you look outside your office window, longing to be outside on a beautiful summer day instead of the air conditioned office?
Are you craving a day on the golf course or the boat? Are you craving your flip flops and the beach?
Are you craving retirement, so you can just curl up with a book in the hammock in the backyard?
As I like to say, you don’t have to stop working to start retiring. Do what you can, where you are, with what you have. Live intentionally – notice the cravings. Notice the longings, and do something about it. Don’t put off what you desire for a day that may never appear. None of us know what tomorrow may bring.
Want to get outside of the office on a beautiful day? Take a walk break – even 10 to 15 minutes can fill that desire, especially when you practice consistently.
Want to get out on the golf course? Go in the evening or on a weekend. Purposefully plan it.
Does your job allow a more flexible schedule to accommodate your desires? What about golfing early in the morning and then working during the hotter part of the day?
Take the boat out on a weekday or evening to beat the weekend crowd. Grab your fishing pole. Make sure to include someone you enjoy hanging out with, fun snacks, and sunscreen.
And you thought the title just meant food cravings …. Well, notice those too. Enjoy!
